A beguiling but ultimately leaden tale of moral conflict.

Fortunately for us (and for Pakula), Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt are bona fide movie stars: their charisma is a considerable compensation.

While this film runs almost two hours, it seems longer because of the pacing.

This is a thriller that starts with an intense premise but quickly descends into something pretty ludicrous.

An engrossing but disappointing big-budget political suspense film, that never becomes exceptional.

It is a mid one actually. The ending was bad and just doesn't fit the film. I mean the way it ends was literally bad. It completely killed the whole momentum of the movie. It is basically a very slow film. With that bad ending it becomes worst. The accent is also bad.

The Devil’s Own had the ingredients for a strong thriller, but the final result feels more average than memorable. The mix of crime, action, and drama works at times, yet the film never fully reaches the level of tension it seems to aim for. The performances are solid, especially from the leads, and they help carry the movie through its slower moments. There are scenes with good atmosphere and suspense, but the pacing can feel uneven, making parts of the story drag more than they should. As an action-thriller, it delivers a few decent moments, though nothing especially standout. The film feels caught between being a serious character drama and a mainstream action movie, which keeps it from excelling at either. Overall, The Devil’s Own is a watchable but fairly middle-tier thriller with some good acting and occasional tension. It is not a bad film, but it never becomes truly gripping or unforgettable. I rate it a 5/10.

Ford and Pitt are great in this movie. The movie itself is pretty frustrating, as they try to stuff way too much in it.

An alltime classic about the forever and still, though at present less violent, ongoing conflict between Catholics/Nationalists and Protestants/Unionists in Northern Ireland who want to belong to different countries and governments....at least with us Europeans it resonates very much, as we grew up hearing about this violent conflict almost everyday ...for decades..........we do not always choose who we are...
