S H @IsaacH Jan 3 One of the last great stoner comedies. I watched this as a teenager when it came out and fell in love with it instantly. 25 years later it still holds up. Great late night comedy to watch with plenty of fun scenes. Mark-Paul did an amazing job transitioning from a clean teenage actor to a hilarious partying stoner; he deserves a lot more credit for this role. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too!! All the actors played their parts so well and Jason Seagull really burst onto the scene with his character. It's dark humor for sure but it also captures the youth living in the moment before smartphones. See more Sean P @RT49223822 May 31 Although the film's humor, soundtrack, attire, and even the reference to the Freshman Facebook (most of you had no idea this was an actual thing I am sure) may all seem very dated... well that's because it is. The film was made in the late 1990's and everything about it is true to the period. The movie is paced well, the characters are over the top, and the structure is definitely there. Do the female characters have a purpose beyond love interests? Definitely not. This concept and movie certainly were made based on a primarily high school to college aged male demographic. That being said, the humor is fairly good and you'd have to be a complete stick in the mud to not find moments in this to be funny. Ignore the hipster millennial critics making reviews about a 20-25 year old comedy because they are upset that it didn't stay true to their contemporary sensibilities. See more Kayla S @RT80637479 May 11 Honestly, I really enjoyed this film despite the fact that the humor will come across to many as offensive & tone deaf. To be clear, it is offensive & tone-deaf but, for me, that was what made it so funny. Obviously, suicide & mental illness are nothing to laugh at but, from my perspective having both my father & grandmother commit suicide, I find that one of the hardest parts of coping with a loved ones' suicide is that the subject is so taboo & no one knows what to say or just avoids the topic totally. Personally, watching a movie that makes light of suicide is much less triggering & depressing than watching a sad movie about suicide. See more Lee S @RT25664876 04/18/2025 I am honestly shocked this movie is not more beloved or at least considered a cult classic. I consider this movie a classic of the era, it is one was watched very often among my peer group in the early 2000's. And 25 years later I still quote it often. If you enjoy black teen/college comedies of this era then DO NOT MISS OUT on this classic! It's clever, very funny, and the entire cast really know it out of the park for my money. I very rarely find movies that I love have such low ratings so this one really shocks me. These people must not enjoy dark humor in their teen/college comedies because this one is among the very best for my money. I can count movies I have re-watched as many times as this in the single digits. Dead Man on Campus is a forgotten gem and deserves to be a true cult classic IMO.
