Critics Consensus

While the fine cast keeps Dead Man Down watchable throughout, the film is weighted down by absurd plot twists and a slack pace.

Dead Man Down isn't deeply satisfying but is well filmed and performed - and proof you can make a workable New York thriller with a bunch of Europeans. Go to Full Review David Thomson The New Republic Jun 12, 2013
Suppose Armand Assante had played the mother, not as a father, as a mother. Suppose Isabelle Huppert had taken the Colin Farrell part. This may be no more than playful, but heaven knows Dead Man Down needs as much of that as it can get. Go to Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard May 3, 2013

[Rapace] will be enough to send some to this urban thriller but the film will send them away disappointed. Go to Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Aug 23, 2024

J.H. Wyman's screenplay is strongly written and probably my favorite story of 2013 so far. Go to Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Sep 12, 2022

It’s on the strength of Farrell and Rapace, their supporting cast, and the visual confidence of the production that leaves Dead Man Down a worthwhile voyage into neo-noir territory. Go to Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Dec 3, 2020

The vengeful gangster and his plight may be a repetitive backstory, but the cryptic structuring and competent acting strengthen the refreshingly fluctuating twists. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

See more T T @RT95435478 Feb 11, 2023 I enjoyed this film. Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace did a great job. The plot was kind of messy though. The action scenes were ok. Overall, I think it's a good movie. Not great, but good. See more isla s @RT89656869 Sep 3, 2022 This is a pretty fast paced, gritty crime action thriller film. There are some good special effects and its fairly engrossing. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. I couldn't remember too much about it shortly after seeing it, although I did enjoy watching it but I wouldn't say its either memorable or one your likely to want to watch multiple times. Its a good film, not great but good. See more Apr 28, 2022 Filme ótimo e mesmo com cicatriz ela nao deixa de ser LINDA See more Read all reviews
