Critics Consensus

Suspenseful and politically astute, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a superior entry in the Avengers canon and is sure to thrill Marvel diehards.

A real turning point in the Marvel Universe as it experiments with new genres, with tremendous action throughout. it’s not perfect, Robert Redford seems ill-at-ease, but eight years on it’s still terrific.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier neatly and entertainingly puts into motion some big changes in the Marvel universe, while still sticking to its own charms - no easy feat, but one fit for a hero.

It knocks down a lot of the infrastructure the previous films had created, and it does so in a way that feels organic and refreshing for the Marvel world at large.

It represents a monumental act of toy-breaking, but it works spectacularly well because it removes the safety net above which the first "phase" of Marvel features operated.

The heroic eye-popping action sequences, hand-to-hand fight scenes, and extraordinary stuntwork are still present, but there is legitimate exposition going on that matters.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is an ideal blockbuster: fast, entertaining, visually striking, well-acted, and with something to say politically. The first film was good, but this is where things get more interesting. [Full review in Spanish].

action packed and just a fun time. very few lulls in the action, but usually those lulls are filled with pretty people in various stages of undress but no smut.

Without a doubt one of the greatest comic-book movies of all time. With, what I believe, some influences from The Dark Knight, it is one of the more serious, complex, and gripping MCU movies. It's refreshingly grounded after watching Thor: The Dark World, which isn't that bad, but that's what makes the Captain America movies stick out. The spy/espionage plot is unoriginal but perfect, with legendary twists throughout. It all builds the characters, the world and secret organisations they interact with, and the tension between them all. And did I not mention the action sequences? Boy, they are a feast! Spectacular camera work in chase scenes and fight choreography, and there is plenty of it. I could go on and on, however the movie does lose itself a little towards the end. It gets carried away by the large scale and the large stakes, and forgets what made it so interesting earlier. And then Cap saves Bucky and it becomes awesome again. Seriously cannot recommend it enough.

This movie is very good, the fight scenes are amazing and the choreography is amazing, I personally would rather fantasy rather than a movie with a lot of guns, but I love that Bucky’s the Winter Soldier, I don’t really like the amount of times Nick Fury almost dies
