ra’xy T @cxte_ Apr 11 the movie was going so great till this funny looking btch ridley showed up with her thin lips, making obnoxious lip noises & movements to overcompensate for the lack of them she has. h8 actresses who play ‘evil’ roles with nothing but their lips. completely annoying shows their lack of talent. surely another actress could’ve played her role. it also seemed as if the plot became lost once she showed up, had to turn the movie off. So much potential but failed to deliver and make an impact. Between the main characters (Ethan and Lena) there’s no chemistry whatsoever, their dialogues are cringy, awkward and forced, it just felt ingenuine. CGI was too performative and fake which sometimes can work if properly directed, that’s not the case here unfortunately. No wonder why this movie got lost in 2013s archives and no one talks about it. I saw no other "casters" except for Duchannes family members and the whole project simply wasn’t executed well due to the lack of investment. Although Viola Davis and Emma Thompson couldn’t save this movie, they were the highlights and the main reason why I gave it a chance. Beautiful Creatures is one of those stories that tells of two young people who are meant to be together but forces outside of their control try to keep them a part. A story of love and sacrifice told in It's own unique way. It takes the "forbidden love" template and twists it by making the boy the mortal, the girl the supernatural threat, and the stakes are not about society’s disapproval but about destiny. The romance doesn't cause the conflict it collides with the supernatural happenings already at play. Unlike Twilight, there is some personality and laughs throughout this movie. The love between Ethan and Lena is undeniable, where you find yourself rooting for them. This movie captures the true essence of forbidden love and how it's worth fighting for.
