Lt. Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) is a weapons officer aboard the destroyer USS John Paul Jones, while his older brother, Stone (Alexander Skarsgård), is the commanding officer of the USS Sampson. Unknown to Alex, Stone or the rest of the U.S. Navy, alien invaders have arrived on Earth with plans to steal Earth's resources. When a confrontation with the invaders knocks out the Navy's radar capability, American and Japanese forces must work together to find a way to save the planet.

Riggins and Landry in the Navy, Peter Berg Does Michael Bay, Transformers-esque, Not Really Battleship; any of those titles are just as fitting if not more so than Battleship.

Some people will tell you that Battleship is a bad film. And they will be right. But it is still a better film than a lot of other action and effects-dominated movies out there. Especially ones based on toy franchises.

Rihanna and the old guys are the only reason to watch this. Even the old guys was overdone. If the tech was reality the movie would have been over in 10 minutes and everyone would be dead really silly and I'm guessing a colossal waste of money. Unfortunately the boobs and bod aren't enough to float this girls career.

I was in the US Navy from 1964 to 1971. I survived the Viet-Nam War and spent extra time in the US Naval Reserve. I was a Radarman and worked inside C.I.C. or Combat Information Center. My Dad was a 34 year US Navy Veteran from WW2. He was a Radioman and then later a Lt. Commaner. So the Navy and everything about is in my blood. What I enjoyed most about this film is that it gives you an "Eye" on modern day Navy inside the CIC and the Bridge of an Arleigh-Burke Class Guided Missel Destroyer. I was on an older Adams Class DDG-9. Also, as part of my "Breakin Period" I had to climb the "Mast" and this movie shows a scene of the newer Mast. OK...there is negative shit about the fact that this whole situation is just too "far out" or stupid..?? Why..more than likely they never "Served"..!! This is a Si-Fi Movie and a very good one in that it is very possible that "we are NOT alone" on this Third Rock from the Sun. But it's a movie!! So hipathetically they can say WTF & paint a possibility!

It had some big action - but Battleship wasn't anything like what the word conjures up. And when the old guys come out to revive the US Mississippi, it gets kinda comical.
