See more Mags E @RT34947515 5h Arrival was a wonderful movie. It rethinks Aliens as an idea into something that seems surprisingly realistic. The shots showing the spaceship and breathtaking, and the start quickly jumps into the story without wasting time. The idea of the complex linguistic structure of how the Aliens in the movie communicate gives the protagonist a reason to be part of the research team, and makes the audience think about how another species would realistically develop communication. The usage of a canary inside of the spaceship is nothing short of perfectly practical. Having a bird once used in coal mines to test the air just makes sense, and is great attention to detail. The cooperation of world nations at first with issues arriving later seems very accurate to how the real world works. The ending is very bittersweet, but has a nice commentary about enjoying life. I would definitely recommend this movie to pretty much anyone.
