Despite a few strong emotional beats, the crime drama "American Heist" proves as undistinguished as its generic title.

American Heist has straight-to-video written all over it. Once there, I recommend you skip directly to the last act if you decide to watch it at all.

The movie suffers from underdeveloped characters, a lack of originality and an unnecessary social commentary. Half good, half bad.

Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody turn in solid performances, but this by-the-numbers exercise does little to distinguish itself from any number of better crime thrillers.

Baby Driver did the heist plot better than this movie.

Adrian Brody (Dummy, Back to 1942) and Hayden Christensen (Vanishing on 7th Street, All I Wanna Do) deliver strong performances but it’s an very generic action movie

Bad writing causes bad acting I guess. Don’t waste your time on a bad storyline.

While this film would very much like to be a comedy about a jazz-loving car mechanic whose petty crim brother comes out of prison and keeps trying to drag him into ineptly criminal schemes, sadly it isn't. Gratuitous tonal shifts, cliche, and dubious racial stereotyping make it a cringe to watch.

There is decent production value and better acting then expected, but not enough to make this film stand out. However, Adrien Brody is terribly miscast...again. An average and passable heist thriller which will be forgotten shortly after the credits roll. 5/10
