When cops Schmidt and Jenko join the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover as high-school students. They trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, and set out to shut down a dangerous drug ring. But, as time goes on, Schmidt and Jenko discover that high school is nothing like it was just a few years earlier -- and, what's more, they must again confront the teenage terror and anxiety they thought they had left behind.

Critics Consensus

A smart, affectionate satire of '80s nostalgia and teen movie tropes, 21 Jump Street offers rowdy mainstream comedy with a surprisingly satisfying bite.

Not that the original series was high-brow/must-see television, but I figured any remake of it in the 21st century would at least be far more ambitious than this tired bit of recycling.

The late-eighties TV series is rebooted with jolts of sentiment, personal discovery, and wild comedy.

It has a tone all its own: drunk enough to lower the inhibitions; not so drunk that it becomes unintelligible.

Here’s a movie that’s aware of all its clichés, but somehow, with no limit of energy and humor, uses our awareness of these formulas as its strength.

While some original films make it through the cracks, almost everything these days is a sequel, reboot, or remake...our wallets are what do the talking and we keep rewarding Hollywood for this behavior.

I'm not going to lie, as an average stoner, this is decent. If you're comparing it to superbad or Talladega nights as if they're nines. this is very much middle of the road, but worth seeing for pop culture. actually, whenever i saw this movie on a list i sighed, but giving it a full watch, its somewhat entertaining. and i hate to say it, but it has decent moments. nothing comparable, but it is its own playdough. if you're extremely bored or drunk, give it a go, if not, fuck this movie, its complete garbage, go watch better movies. literally the worst hellraiser sequel flogs this. but just like squidbillies, if you're extremely drunk, you might like it.

21 Jump Street was honestly hilarious—easily one of the funniest movies I’ve watched in a while. The comedy is crude, ridiculous, and completely over-the-top, but somehow it all works. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are fantastic together, and their chemistry carries the entire movie. The undercover-high-school setup gives the usual cop-movie formula a fresh spin, and the movie knows exactly how absurd its own premise is Fast, stupid in the best way, and consistently funny from start to finish. Five stars for me. Definitely watching the sequel.

Very funny movie to watch with friends. Lots of laughs with every joke and tons of quotable lines given in the movie. Only thing that doesn't give it the five stars is that the very short young high school part. Very good movie all around.

This movie is a really fun movie about two cops who go back to middle school because they "look young" but everyone sees through it and that is basically it. That's also exactly the reason why it's such a good movie
