Critics Consensus

A grungy, disjointed, mostly brainless mess of a film, House of the Dead is nonetheless loaded with unintentional laughs.

George A Romero's original template has now worn pretty thin so you'll either love this repetitive gore-fest for its unpretentious dumbness or hate it for being nothing more than a shameless plug for the game. Go to Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org May 14, 2017

House of the Dead is a very entertaining film, but only because it's made in a such inept and unprofessional way that it's almost impossible to believe that it was shown in cinemas. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Fro T @frothizzlereviews Sep 18, 2026 Oh, boy. Uwe Boll arguably delivers the greatest unintentional comedy in cinema history. A giant failure on all fronts ... but very fun to tear apart with your buddies. See more Oaklee D @ODie63 Jul 20, 2026 A hot steaming pile of Uwe Boll fecal matter, I was lightly entertained though. See more Martin P @endymetal May 10, 2026 Not as bad as reported but unintentionally funny at times. Kind of like piranha 3d I guess. Corny. See more Lucas T. @LukkenHadduken Mar 13, 2026 It’s 3 stars because of entertainment value alone. The plot twist was all over the place the characters were both terribly written and acted. At no point did anything anyone did make any logical sense. The entire first 15 minutes I’m convinced only exists to get as many women topless as they can. This might legit be the worst movie I’ve ever seen, but darn it it’s entertaining af. I laughed every time the movie spliced in a clip of the video game. A hot mess of a movie, but I recommend it lol See more Steve Y @Cubby65 Dec 13, 2025 I assume half of the $12 million budget went to Jurgen Prochnow ,and the Matrix-style camera work. So bad it's just bad See more David W @Sternhammer Aug 9, 2025 Love the games but this is terrible. See more Read all reviews
