Nick S @RT78401329 Sep 24, 2026 Angel Eyes can't decide if it wants to be a family drama, cop thriller, grief study, or romance. It gestures at trauma and forgiveness without digging into the complexities of either. It reads more like two deeply scarred people building a relationship on shaky ground, and the film never stops to question that foundation. Their damaged connection could have been the heart of the story, but instead it's written like a chick flick that throws in heavy themes just to move the plot along, without ever handling them well. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Apr 11, 2026 Angel Eyes is a compelling drama that is elevated by Jennifer Lopez, who delivers a strong and emotionally grounded performance. She brings vulnerability and strength to her role, making the story feel more impactful as her character navigates trauma, responsibility, and personal growth. It’s her presence that truly holds the film together and keeps you invested. The film blends romance and drama with a heavier emotional tone, exploring healing and connection through characters dealing with past pain. While the story itself is engaging, the screenplay does have its flaws. Some moments feel uneven, and certain character developments could have been handled better to create a smoother narrative flow. Still, the direction does a good job of pulling you into the story and maintaining an intimate atmosphere. Overall, Angel Eyes is not perfect, but it’s a heartfelt and meaningful film that deserves more appreciation than it often gets. The part when he plays his instrument with such sorrow as he had the flashback of the death of his family alone makes this movie worth watching. This is a good movie I was surprised at the rating. See more Greg H @Ghoch May 15, 2024 I watched this movie when it first came out because Roger Ebert wouldn't shut up about how amazing it was. I remember him talking about the incredible performance that Jennifer Lopez put out for it as well. Anyways, on a slow week I watch probably 2 new movies. On a good week probably 5ish and I will never forget Angel Eyes. Of the thousands of movies I've seen in my life. This pile of garbage was probably the stupidest movie I've ever seen. Anyone that was involved should be forced to write apology letters to the audience for all of it. There wasn't a scene. An idea. A performance. Even a thought, that this movie did well. I'm always confused when I see such a poor movie. They went through the entire process of making this and hat to sit down and watch their work. And then sign off on it. Rotten tomatoes really needs to have a zero score option thanks to complete bombs like this. Also, I know he's dead now. But, I'll never forgive Roger Ebert for this. I wouldn't have watched it if he didn't give such an review. He could have just said he had a crush on Jennifer Lopez instead of giving two thumbs up and 5 stars to every piece of garbage she was involved in. See more Read all reviews
