A cocky ad executive, Marcus (Eddie Murphy) has a reputation as a ladies' man. However, Marcus gets a taste of his own medicine when a merger finds him working under the beautiful Jacqueline (Robin Givens), who has a similarly cavalier attitude about romance. Marcus and Jacqueline become involved, but he is put off by her noncommittal approach to their relationship. Meanwhile, Marcus also begins to develop feelings for the pretty Angela (Halle Berry), who is more thoughtful than Jacqueline.

Critics Consensus

Boomerang injects some fresh color into the corporate rom-com formula, but the frothy fun is undercut by off-putting gender dynamics and misjudged gags.

Then there's the input from Warrington and Reginald Hudlin, producer and director respectively, who succeed in creating a comedy which, unusually for a Murphy film, also exists around him.

In Boomerang Eddie Murphy straitjackets himself in an ill-fitting comedy vehicle that's desperately in need of a reality check.

The general idea is to exploit a certain amount of role reversal, and Reginald Hudlin, who directed House Party, does a fairly good job of making this fun.

Riotously funny Eddie Murphy comedy is rife with complicated sexual politics and dated ethnic jokes in a confused script that wants it both ways. Great Reginald Hudlin commentary on this new blu-ray from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Boomerang was not a good film in 1992 when it came out and definitely has not aged well. Plenty of the jokes and dialogue are offensive to today’s ears.

This is why I hate critics. Boomerang is a timeless and amazing classic of black excellence and it is hilarious Eddie Murphy John Witherspoon, Halle Berry Eartha Kitt a star static cast of brilliance 10 out of 10 movie. Period‼️ not to mention Toni Braxton and her award-winning single that broke out her career sensational‼️👏🏿😎😍🥰😘 special mention to Martin Lawrence and David Allen Greer‼️👏🏿😎

A movie way ahead of its time that highlights the culture of corporate America whilst also cinematically eliciting a reaction from viewers that confirms their unconscious bias when a film doesn’t perpetuate representation in a way that is comfortable for many.

One of the best romantic comedies of all time!. Classy, fresh, sexy and funny. One of the best casts of all time also. I never understood the negative ratings about this movie. They don't make em like this anymore 😪

Made an account to come in and BASH the dumb critics who gave low scores to the GREATEST OF ALL TIME, Eddie Murphy!!!! Guess that a lot of the "professional critics" agreed with that writer from the LA times newspaper!? Not enough white people?? But like Eddie said, they don't want to see respectable working middle/upper class black folks in offices, and successful! But, they gonna give Boyz N the Hood great reviews, because we thugging and bangin' and druggin and sexin'! Fact is, just as it was nearly 35 yrs ago, Boomerang is great story about friendship, love, not taking people for granted and learning whatever is on the inside, far outweighs what is on the outside! We can ALL relate. Great movie!

This movie has several key points. It discusses relationships and how to deal with different types of women and men. Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are both hilarious. The movie features many comedians. Halle Berry played her role exceptionally well. The love story between Eddie Murphy and Halle Berry was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can watch this movie repeatedly
