Sam (Garrett Hedlund), the son of famous video-game developer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), has been haunted for a long time by his father's mysterious disappearance. A strange signal draws Sam to Flynn's Arcade, and he is pulled into the same cyberworld in which his father, its creator, has been trapped for 20 years. With fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), Kevin and Sam seek to escape from a universe that, while magnificent, is far more advanced and dangerous than Kevin had ever imagined.

Tron: Legacy is a fun popcorn flick if you had the opportunity to catch it on the big screen, but with the digital effects downsized on a DVD format what's good about the movie doesn't emit as much of an effect.

“Tron: Legacy” proves that with so many examples of oppression in fiction and reality, this movie had to come from a special place to be thinner in its spin on an evil leader and his forces than the last season of “Game of Thrones.”

Rating: 6.7/10 ⭐️ As an open-world RPG fan, I expected a standard sequel, but this neon digital universe totally blew me away. What Worked: As a filmmaker, I respect Kosinski building physical sets and real illuminated suits over CGI sludge. It gives the world crazy tangible weight. Daft Punk’s score is legendary. Through my faith & flag lens, I loved the themes of a father's protective love and fighting a totalitarian system forcing “perfection.” The Cuts: The rubbery digital de-aging on Clu made the villain feel like a goofy NPC. Because there's so much heavy exposition explaining the Grid's history, the middle part really dragged for me. Michael Sheen's flamboyant character totally broke the gritty atmosphere. Verdict: Visually stunning but narratively clunky. Watch for insane world-building and music, skip if you need perfect pacing. Favorite Line: “A digital frontier that will reshape the human condition.”
