Two years after the disastrous events in Las Vegas, it is now Stu's (Ed Helms) turn to walk down the aisle. Since his bride is from Thailand, Stu decides to hold the wedding there. Desperately hoping to avoid the mayhem of Doug's (Justin Bartha) bachelor party, Stu chooses what he thinks will be a safe option: an alcohol-free, pre-wedding brunch. But this being Thailand, and with Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) again in attendance, anything can happen.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A crueler, darker, raunchier carbon copy of the first installment, The Hangover Part II lacks the element of surprise -- and most of the joy -- that helped make the original a hit.

The wickedly entertaining characters and actors each leave audiences in stitches as they go through the motions of an equally entertaining--albeit redone--plot that will thrill die-hard fans of the original. Go to Full Review

Even if The Hangover Part II is, in essence, a predictable mirror image of the first film, just in a new setting, doesn't make it any less funny or entertainingly over-the-top. Go to Full Review

The shock-based laughs were forgivable with The Hangover given the novelty of the concept, but there’s no pardoning the do-over feel of this sequel. Go to Full Review

Chris P @Xiao_Proxies 6d The Hangover Part II tries to recapture the magic of the first film by replicating its structure almost beat-for-beat. This time, the wild aftermath takes place in Bangkok, but the blueprint remains the same: someone goes missing, the group has no memory, and chaos ensues. While the location adds new flavor and a few unique gags, the overall story feels like a carbon copy of the original. That said, the film is still entertaining. The chemistry between Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis continues to carry the movie, and there are just enough absurd twists and shocking moments to keep it engaging. The comedy still works, even if it lacks freshness. If you loved the first film and want more of the same, this sequel delivers exactly that, no more, no less. See more Manan J @RT64452712 Apr 13 Same chaos. Different city. Zero regrets. Most sequels play it safe. The Hangover Part II doubles down—and then completely loses control. What worked in The Hangover isn’t just repeated, it’s pushed into darker, crazier territory. The trio—Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis—return like they never left, except this time the consequences hit harder and the situations get way more unhinged. It’s messier, louder, and honestly… even more unpredictable. Yes, it follows a familiar structure. But when the ride is this wild, complaining about repetition feels pointless. Final Verdict: Not here to be original. Here to be outrageous—and it delivers. Cinema wins. Mediocrity loses. See more Sha T. @RT96909402 Apr 12 It’s essentially the first Hangover movie, but set in Bangkok. The movie is funny, but not as good as the first one. I would watch it again, though.
