Richard W @rdwoolf Jun 11 For non-British English speakers, the title of this film might be confusing. "Stroke" is the British equivalent to "slash" in North American English. So the the title could be seen as "Girl/Boy." But, I am sure it is also supposed to be a little suggestive too. British comedies of this time period are often centered around the use of double entendres. One of my favorite film genres is the one where uptight upper or middle-class British people must endure situations that push their comfort levels and they must try to maintain that uptight Britishness above all. Girl Stroke Boy is one of those films. it centers around a middle-class older couple who think of themselves as progressive and liberal. But when their adult son brings home his new girlfriend who they are not sure is male or female, their true values are revealed. See more Read all reviews
