Par H @Parhwy Jul 3 Freaks: You're One of Us (2020) is a 92-minute-long German action film I saw on Netflix in July 2026. This was derivative and uninspired. Not saying bad or slipshod; there are clear demonstrations of decent production values… It’s just that this modestly budgeted X-Men-esque film is bland and well within the tropes used in those other films. Unless I missed something, the way the bad guy is defeated lacked a precedent: his weakness was not shown to us, it’s just assumed due to his special skill (and I did not think the two are linked: did the guy never shower?) Nonostante una simpatica nota di ironia e qualche personaggio divertente ed originale, a mancare è uno sviluppo originale della trama; che invece si limita a scopiazzare altri film del genere, trovando il villain proprio in un personaggio inizialmente "buono" che evolve velocemente verso una spirale di violenza. Naturalmente la CGI non è ai livelli di altri film del genere a causa di un budget non altissimo; forse si poteva limitarne maggiormente l'utilizzo. Hollywood story, brought (not) to life by German craftmanship (that is not a compliment in the world of movies). Lazy writing, poor dialogue, mostly horrible acting, dull camerawork, painful lack of a single atom of creativity in any aspect. It somehow wants to speak about mental illness through a kind of twisted superhero movie but remains weak, superficial and derivative on both fronts. Watchable but really not worth your time.
