Logan D 15h Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol is a clerk in the 19th century. He experiences visions which are noticed by a famous investigator, Yakov Petrovich Guro. Guro accepts Gogol's offer to journey to the village of Dikanka to solve a crime. This is a tv series which was converted to film format and has so far spawned three movies. I was unaware of that fact and was a bit confused when one story was resolved and another started. This is a gothic detective origin story blending Slavic folklore, horror, and mystery built around the idea the real life author Nikolai Gogol based his stories on his own experiences. Visually the film is highly appealing. Thematically, it's lightweight. I loved it and look forward to the next two installments. See more Read all reviews
