After race car driver Tommy Callahan (Fabian) experiences blackouts that lead to a deadly accident, he is banished from professional competition. Taking a job as a stunt driver, Tommy meets Francie Madsen (Annette Funicello) and her young beau, Eddie Sands (Warren Berlinger). Tommy teaches Eddie the essentials of driving. However, when Eddie steals Tommy's girlfriend, Annie Blaine (Diane McBain), the two begin a tense rivalry. Can Tommy and Eddie reconcile, or are they destined to be enemies?
